Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in both film, television as well as theatre. She's best known as Teri Joe, a fiery lawyer in the Showtime show Soul Food. Following her marriage to her husband, she was referred to for her role as Nikki Kodjoe. Growing up living in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always interested in acting. At an Maryland high school competition at the beginning of her schooling, she won the prize for the most outstanding actress. Alongside her involvement as a theater actress and in the ballet company, she was also a part of 'The Washington Ballet Company. The company awarded her an acting degree from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was her first major performance. The film was later followed by movies like "Boogie Nights Spark", Blue Streak". Soul Food, her TV show was greatly praised due to her performance. In addition, she has appeared on TV series like Second Time Around" and Empire. In the beginning of her career, she was in numerous stage productions. Parker, who takes seriously her involvement in politics, is married to model and actor Boris Kodjoe. The couple have two daughters.

Contractor was born in Mumbai and was a resident of Nigeria for seven years, was awash with trips and experiences in the world of culture at an early age. She attended boarding schools from the age of 7 to 9 in London. Later her family returned home to Toronto (Canada) in Canada, where she were raised for her entire life. Contractor was a brilliant scholar in Toronto and educated to become a classical ballet dancer. She went to the Etobicoke School of the Arts. It's a high school that teaches arts in which she didn't just take classes in theater but also performed too. At 16, after nearly 10 years of dancing, Contractor decided to study acting professionally. When she graduated from high-school and was awarded a full tuition scholarship to University of Toronto where she pursued theatre studies with a double degree in psychology and Sociology. Contractor with a degree in sociology, having spent a year in university and auditioned during an open call for Pericles, at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadain Canada] and was selected for the role. After 92 performances, she received positive reviews. The production was recognized as the top production in Canada by critics. She was invited to enroll in Stratford's conservatory, a program where only four men and eight women are able to take an intensive 20-week training in classical theater. Contractor received a guaranteed spot for the upcoming season of plays and landed the part in the role of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
